Nights clement and mornings fair.

Hoodies and gilets are stowed,

Tees and cashmeres again remembered.

You insisted that that was not sin,

Wore that extra toe ring as the proof of your acceptance.

Our secret betrothal was enough to clear our guilt,

And accept it as our parallel life and not as a happenstance.

How feelings got across then,

Silently without a word being told?

Now many words died untold,

When the relationship became old.

One sky looks brighter than the others,

Soon will be brightening up the lawn outside.

My room is still dark and dishevelled,

Like the heart and mind inside.

As the day closed, darkness deepened,

and the lights on the roads got brighter.

Some places remained dark, lights were kept low,

Voices remained hushed; hearts started beating faster.

A familiar feeling in the air wafts into my being,

That memory of the season of the leaves falling.

The coolish winter was silently receding,

the summer in its harshness was raring.

It was dark outside when I woke up,

The Sun was hours away,

Through the window I was facing the darkness,

With a lone star blinking in the Milky Way.

Conversations bring them back, their reputations and their fame,

they are just there nothing beyond just names.

The soil over which they walked and the air they breathed,

their footprints are long erased, absent are also the air.

With the pain of the lane now in my rear-view mirror,

and the wide highway laying ahead of me,

I look at infinite hopes,

That holds promises to make up for all the lost time.
