Poems

As the rumble and flashes at the horizon got nearer and louder,

The promise of the rain made me surer and happier.

Happy for us, but happier for those trees,

For whom I had done nothing which since a month were our saviour.

The new leaves which had sprung up in the spring,

Took their role from birth to do their job without questioning.

They had sheltered us from the scorching heat,

It was such a joy seeing them getting drenched for the first time.

Apart from cursing the glare, we had done nothing for them,

Taking shelter under them without ever thanking them.

Those trees like our parents had taken on the vicissitude,

Without expecting anything in return or even a small token of gratitude.

These rains made me see the continuity of goodness,

When we serve one, God’s grace would come through someone else.

I stood filled with the energy to carry forward the same,

Which I had unconditionally got from so many sources known and unknown.

Nature never betrays. If you love it, it would reciprocate without any doubt.
